How can a foil keyboard be executed EMC-compatible? Is an ESD-/ESE-dissipation possible?

Answer: both questions can in principle be answered positively, whereas it is always necessary to consider the system as a whole, of course.

ESD (electromagnetic compatibility):
This is usually realisedby means of barrier sheets made of aluminium, copper or silver polymer placed underneath the decor foil (low-resistance conductive).

ESE (electrostatic discharge):
Here the barrier sheet is usually made of graphite or carbon which are high-resistance conductive.

The implementation of EMC- and/or ESE-measures is an option which is realised upon the customer’s request.

We would recommend that in case of doubt, both prototypes with and without EMC-/ESE-measures are produced in order to be able to assess the efficiency or necessity of these measures for the series-production in the course of the CE-acceptance test of the complete installation.

Additionally, we can provide you with our customer information brochure „KDI000010 CE-labels for foil keyboards“upon request.
