What kinds of glue do you use? In what do they differ from each other and what has to be taken into account when selecting a kind of glue? It is very important to choose the appropriate glue, as a long-lasting bonding of a wide variety of materials is required, even under outside influences. There are two possibilities of applying glue selectively (key and display areas have to be kept free of glue): 1.) Screen process glue The advantage of this glue is its very cost-efficient application because no cutting or laminating is required. 2.) Transfer glue The use of transfer glue is more time-consuming and thus more expensive in comparison with the printed glue. Transfer glues have to be cut and subsequently laminated on the surface. This increases the one off costs and the overall expenditure of time/handling is higher. On the other hand, the characteristic features of the usually used „transfer glue on the basis of acrylate“ are advantageous:
This glue is available in various thicknesses from 0,05 to 0,35mm. If there is no definition of the surface the glue has to be applied to on the part of the customer, we assume a plane, highly energetic underground free of grease and separating agents, e.g. made of ABS (alkylbenzenesulfonate), PC (ploycarbonate) or aluminium. Problems can best be avoided if the assembly of the foils/-keyboards is carried out by our experienced specialists and if you define the underground the glue has to be applied to already during the inquiry or development phase.
