faq-10

What are embossings, what are they used for and what has to be paid regard to?

Embossings are elevations and recesses in the decor foil produced by means of special tools and converting machines.

Embossed foils offer:

  • a better tactile performance
  • easier and quicker adjustment of the tactile performance with short stroke keyboards
  • better finger guidance/orientation where the key should be pressed
  • optical and palpable elevations
  • height compensation of integrated components (FOILtronic® )

The most common embossing types are:

  • dome embossing
  • pillow embossing
  • edge embossing
  • bubble embossing
  • wart embossing

Other embossing types, especially negative embossings or writings/-characters according to the customer’s specifications are possible. Here the possibilities are limited, however, by the technical feasibility.

It is important to pay regard to the selection of appropriate material, the skilful production of  tools as well as the parameters for the embossing process.

All this has a direct influence on the quality and the durability of the embossings and requires a lot of experience which is at hand in our company.
